Baha

Can you please tell me how I can make my [CONTACTS] folder visible in the
Navigation pane?

I imported new contact list into a new folder [NEW CONTACTS]

Here is what I have:

In the Navigation Pane I only see my NEW CONTACTS folder but I can not see
my CONTACTS Folder.

BUT

In the Folder List I see a folder [CONTACTS] AND the new one below it
labelled [NEW CONTACTS]

When I open E-mail Account \ View existing directories and address books, I
have ONLY one [Outlook address book]

I appreciate your help.

left side of the screen.

The top part has is labelled (My Contacts) It is in this section that I see
my (New Contacts) folder but I can not see my MAIN (contacts Folder).

The lower part of the Navigation pan is labelled (Current Views)

Implausible if not impossible. All valid Contacts Folders in your profile
will appear under "My Contacts" in the Contacts View of the Nav Pane.
When you select this folder in Folder List view, what do you see?
Describe the import process you used and why you used Import to create
Contacts. That's never a good idea.

Hi Russ:

First, thank you very much for being so patient with me. I truly appreciate
your responses to my questions.

It may be “Implausible if not impossible†I wish I can give you access to my
system so you can see it yourself.

You ASKED ME “When you select this folder in Folder List view WHAT DO YOU
SEE Here is what I see:
…………………………………………………………………………….
Contacts
New Contacts (this is a sub folder)
……………………………………………………………..

BUT, in the Navigation pan what I see is ONLY the subfolder (New Contacts)

You asked me what I was trying to do

I decided to use outlook as my new Contact List in place of another contact
management system (Maximizer) where I had a list of about 1200 individuals.
Here is what I did and wish to do:

1) Maximizer gave me a .CSV table.
2) I used outlook import export to import the .CSV file into my NEW contacts.
3) I mapped the .SCV list to the various Outlook fields. It gave me a hard
time but finally it worked.

You said that “Import is never a good Ideaâ€. As I will be using this often
what do you recommend?
I will often need to update my outlook list can you point me to a good site
where I can get advice on how to do this better?

THANKS AGAIN for all your help.

YES at one time the default Contacts Folder did appear as it should BUT
was not visable in the select names window.

I hope I do not sound too DUM. How do you reset the Navigation Pan?
I tried the Navigatoin Pan Options, then Reset. the only thing it seem to
do is change the order of the Icons, Mail, Calender, notes, .... It does not
seem do any thing in brining the contact folders out.

Thanks agin.

If it is, restart Outlook with the /resetfolders switch.

Hi Russ:

First, thank you very much for being so patient with me. I truly
appreciate
your responses to my questions.

It may be “Implausible if not impossible†I wish I can give you
access

my
system so you can see it yourself.

You ASKED ME “When you select this folder in Folder List view

DO

…………………………………………………………………………….
Contacts
New Contacts (this is a sub folder)
……………………………………………………………..

BUT, in the Navigation pan what I see is ONLY the subfolder (New
Contacts)

You asked me what I was trying to do

I decided to use outlook as my new Contact List in place of
another
contact
management system (Maximizer) where I had a list of about 1200
individuals.
Here is what I did and wish to do:

1) Maximizer gave me a .CSV table.
2) I used outlook import export to import the .CSV file into my
NEW
contacts.
3) I mapped the .SCV list to the various Outlook fields. It gave
me
a
hard
time but finally it worked.

You said that “Import is never a good Ideaâ€. As I will be using
this
often
what do you recommend?
I will often need to update my outlook list can you point me to a
good
site
where I can get advice on how to do this better?

THANKS AGAIN for all your help.

:

Implausible if not impossible. All valid Contacts Folders in
your

will appear under "My Contacts" in the Contacts View of the Nav

I tried the Restorefloder Switch but it did not work. Maybe because my OS
is VISTA 64.

I have an idea wonder what you think.
1. If I Export my folders (Inbox, sent and contacts) As a backup .PST then
2. Delete outlook completely
3. Reinstall outlook again.
4. Open my new Outlook.PST
5. Import the backup to the appropriate folders. Would that work.

You have been very kind to me.

Thanks

Not appearing in the address book view is an entirely different problem.
Check the properties of the folder. Make sure it is in fact designated as

book.
