In Outlook 2007 calendar month view, why are some days shaded?

Even if there is one appointment, the whole day is sometimes shaded for no
obvious reason, which I do not want when I print it.

You are using color categories and the item is either set to busy (solid
shading) or tentative (cross hatched shading)
