In PPT, any way to *automatically* transition to the *prior* slide

I would like to establish a self-running sequence at the beginning of a
presentation that can play on its own while attendeeds arrive at the
beginning of an event. I can see no way that an animation consisiting of
multiple separate objects can repeat itself within a page (until
interrupted).

I wondered if I might accomplish my goal by running an animation sequence
through once on one page, automatically transitioning to a second page based
on time, repeating the same animation on the second page, and then (and this
is the catch) automatically transitioning back to the previous slide where
the animation would repeat.

I know that I may be asking more of PowerPoint than is reasonable, but since
I can automatically transition forward (based on time), I thought there might
be a way to accomplish the reverse.

Unless I come up with an approach in PPT, I guess I will have to create an
external movie of some kind that I can embed in a slide.

Thanks for any ideas you may have.
