In Project 2007 - how do I...

Hi,

I am building a template on Project for a process I do at work. I have 2
issues that I cannot seem to work out which are...

1) I cannot seem to save a template which when opened for a new task will
allow me to change the start date (it's only further down the task list that
allows me to cahnge the date)

2) I cannot seem to find out how to set reminders for certain tasks that
will alert me when things need to be done or should be done. I assume I can
link the system to outlook but cannot find out how.

I would be grateful for any help you can give me on this

It seem like you are trying to change the date directly on the project
summery task aka row 0, this cannot be done as dates are rolled up
from the tasks in the schedule. rather go to --Project -- project
information and set the start date from there.

There is no way to set reminders on certain tasks unless you import
them into outlook. For that you need a project server. There is a
little outlook addin that you download from the PWA page that you
install and that allows you to import your tasks into outlook.
Another one might me the Notification and reminders feature where you
could set a reminder that shows "should have started tasks" this is
less acurate but worth a try.

I have resolved the date issue so thanks very much. Can you confirm where
the notification and reminder feature is as I have searched but cannot find
it in Project 2007?

2007 look under personal settings -- notifications and reminders and
you can download it from there, keeping in mind you need local admin
right on the pc to be able to install the addin
