In search for Visio document content

I have a library of 1000 or so diagrams on a network fileshare and
have been unsuccessful in my quest for a utility or search engine that
can find a string of text within them. Surely there is something that
will return more than the title and properties... If you can point me
in the right direction, I would be most appreciative.

It would be a plus if the search could be conducted from an intranet
page and be able to return a list of hits / links, which could open
the documents directly in Internet Explorer (IE).

Easiest way would be to save them all in XML and then do a grep.
