In the Registry?

Are office updates added to the registry like Windows Criticle updates
I'm trying to find out the location for testing. If office update recomends installing for example lets say patch KB2004
After the patch is installed I should be able to look somewhere in the registry to confirm that the workstation has recieved that update. Like windows criticle updates I can go in to the registry delete that key and the work station will request that patch again. I'm trying to get this same level of testing with the office updates for SMS distributions and Logon Scripting

Thanks

Hi Chris,

The MS Office updating isn't yet using the same engine and process
that going to http://windowsupdate.com . While some registry entries
are written, the checks come from date and size of dll and exe files
and of inclusion of, for example, stored .MSP files in the
\Windows\Installer folder.

How Office was installed (from CD, from an Office Admin point) and
how it was updated (recached from an updated Office Admin Point) or
individual downloaded updates, can also affect how you proceed to
the next update (such as through an online check from
http://office.microsoft.com or with the tools in the Office Resource
Kit at http://microsoft.com/office/ork in the toolbox. The version of
Office can also affect your options, but the ORK has some good information
on update scenarios.

For an example of what a particular Office update may use in determining
if an update is installed see this article
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;325671&FR=1
You may also want to check with the folks in the SMS newsgroup as there
is support through that product for Office updates.
