In Word, a delay of a few seconds occurs every 30 seconds...

In Word, while a type, I am constantly interrupted by the computer/program
doing something automatically ... almost like an autosave but it isn't that.
My cursor changes as well. I always make a mistake typing now because of
this delay as Word can't keep up.... anyone have this problem?

If you are working in Print Layout view, does the problem persist
if you switch to Normal view and turn off background repagination
in Tools | Options | General?

Does the problem persist if you turn off "Check spelling as you
type" and "Check grammar as you type" in Tools | Options |
Spelling & Grammar?

Thanks for responding but that does not help my situation. I tried all of
your suggestions but I still get a delay, my cursor changes to the hourglass,
and at the left hand part of the page, there is some type of icon that pops
up. It's quite frustrating to say the least.

Spags, I am having the same problem. Every ten seconds, the hour glass
appears and word freezes for a second or so. I have repaired, reinstalled,
repaired again, and updated office 2003. Tried various other techniques. I
hope someone has an answer for us.

Also make sure that you don't have Speech Recognition enabled.

And that Word can see a default printer. If it is a network printer with a
bad connection, install a local printer driver.
