In Word\Backgrounds the "lock picture aspect ratio" box is greyed

Ive inserted a picture as my background on a MS Word document it the "lock
picture aspect ratio" is greyed out, can this be amended?

It sounds like you used Format>Background>Fill Effects - Picture, in which
case you cannot make any changes. It will automatically be resized to fill
the page.

What you might want to use instead is Format>Background>Printed Watermark &
remove the Washout check. Then you will be able to access the image via
View>Headers and Footers and be able to modify it.

I had tried to use the boxes for lock ratio, but it would not let me and I
could not find a setting to change. So, I used your head/footing method. You
have to switch hide the text then you can use page setup and make it justify
vertically. Is that what you were refering too?
