In word, if I err, I can't fix without next letter erasing itself

EG: If I type- Toobad he is sick. I can't even space the two words, or the
b will get erased. Too bad. If I mistype far as gar, I can't correct, or
the a will disappear.

Press the INS (Insert) key on your keyboard. You have inadvertently activated
OverType (you should see a Black OVR on the Status bar at the bottom of the
Word window.
