Inability to open files in Word, Excel 2003

I am unable to open files in Office 2003 products. It appears this is a
common problem from what I see in the discussion groups. None of the
solutions I read has helped.

I am running Zonealarm Internet Security and not Norton AV.
I have tried Start>>Run winword /r without success.
I have deinstalled and reinstalled Microsoft Office.
I have deinstalled and reinstalled Zonealarm. Office did not work when
Zonealarm was deinstalled either.

Can anyone plese Help?

I have just solved my own problem!

A very old version of Norton AV left the file "officeav.dll" which was
removed using the regsvr32 /u command.

I hope this helps someone else.
