Inactive Resources

Hello!

After an employee leaves and we have set their status to 'inactive', project
plans that they had been assigned to (for example, admin: vacation, sick
time, etc) pops up with a warning saying:

Inactive resources will be unable to report status so their remaining work
should be assigned to active resources.

So my question is: how do I do this regarding an admin project? Will the
system allow me to simply delete the resource from the task? I would think
this would not work since there are actuals tied to the task.

There are multiple people assigned to admin tasks - so there is no
'remaining work' to reassign. Any insight?

Thanks!

I go to "Resource Usage" view in Professional and make all assignments to
inactive resources end on their last day.

BTW, I have found that you don't want to REALLY inactivate a resource
before you go into EACH project they are assigned to, open "Resource
Information", and set "Workgroup" to "none", and then save the project. I
also blank out e-mail and Windows username, and making Booking Type
"Proposed". If you don't do this, projects with inactive resources will get
the "Failed to create resource ..." error when the spooler tries to save or
publish because inactive resource get set to Workgroup "Default", unless the
resouce has been saved otherwise previously.

If you're using Admin projects correctly, there should never be any
remaining work in them ever, except for vacation time that has been booked
to a specific resource.
