Inbox contents lost/deleted? by outlook express

Outlook Express seems to have lost or deleted the entire contents of my inbox
including all the sub folders which were within the inbox. All other
folders, Sent Items, Deleted Items etc are all still there, and other folders
I had set up outside the Inbox, but Inbox itself is empty. Is there any way
I can find/ recover everything (there are probably around 1000 e-mails
missing).

If I go into Windows explorer, I can see .dbx files for all the missing
folders, but don't know what to do with them or even whether they are of any
use.

Outlook Express is not part of Office. You are likely to get a answer on
what caused your problem in an Outlook Express newsgroup for your version.

As to your *.dbx files, I did a Goggle search for: .dbx viewers and received
a number of returns for programs that view and extract contains of *.dbx
files. I did not check if the programs were free or not. I do recall
mentions of a free *.dbx viewer/extraction program, but do not recall the
name. Someone in a Outlook Express newsgroup should be able to help you.
