Inbox displaying the wrong number of new messages

Outlook (using 2003) is still showing 120 unread messages in my inbox even
though there are only about 12 that haven't been read. How can I get it to
read the correct number? This just started happeining today. Any
suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Try this

Find all my unread messages

In the Navigation Pane, click the plus sign (+) next to Search Folders to
display its subfolders.

Click the Unread Mail folder.

Your unread items are displayed in the message list.

The problem isn't finding the unread messages; it is getting Outlook to
recognize that there are only 12 unread messages not 120.

I think the point Richard was making was that perhaps there really ARE 120
unread messages and that the Unread Mail folder whould show where they were.

Why aren't those messages showing up in the inbox?

Did you look in the Unread Mail folder? What did you see there? What
folder(s) does it say the messages are in?
