inbox repair tool problems

My Outlook 2002 stopped working today. Gave me an error that the pst file
was ruined. So, I ran the Inbox Repair Tool.

Outlook loads, but now the original inbox is listed under a folder Lost and
Found as Recovered Folder 8082. I cannot move it to the Personal Folders as
it says it cannot move the Inbox. So, I tried creating a new Inbox, but the
program still recognizes the recovered folder as the inbox.

The worst part is that I cannot delete many of the old emails. I have
emails from way back in June that I deleted in September. Basically
anything from June - Sept 09 that I deleted showed up and now won't let me
delete it. I tried running the Inbox Repair Tool again, but still, the old
stuff shows up.

Is there any way to fix this? If not, can I back up only certain emails and
my account settings and then start with a new pst file?

Thanks!
Juliana

You dont mention what size your data file is, which may be important.
Use tha Mail Applet in the Control Panel to add a new data file, set that as
the default.
Re start outlook you should see 2 sets of Personal Folders in the tree view.
The new one will be empty, try draging msgs from the recovered folder to the
new empty inbox
(do not drag or copy the default folders eg Inbox, Sent etc)
