Inbox says 13 unread msg; but none showing

First time I've seen this! My inbox shows there are still 13 unread
messages, but I've either read or deleted all that were there. Are there
still 13 "residing" somewhere I don't see?

Could be. You might have a filter applied to your view.
You can reset your current view via;
View-> Arrange By-> Custom...-> Reset Current View

And this would be for WHICH version of Outlook? OL2007 perhaps? If so,
how many e-mail accounts are defined within OL2007?

Is this what Outlook shows for a count alongside the Inbox folder in its
folder tree pane? Or is this a count of new e-mails shown on the fluffy
Welcome Screen to Windows XP (or whatever is your also unidentified
version of Windows)?
