{includetext} annd gray text

Recently I combined 12 Word files together using {includetext
"Chapter n.doc"} where was a number 1 to 12
I now find that when the cursor is placed in some areas of the
new document the text becomes "gray".
How can I stop this from happening?
I am using Windows XP and Office XP.

Hi Pat,

Two ways:

1. You can select the text and then press Ctrl+Shift+F9. That will
unlink the text from its source, turning it into ordinary text.

or

2. If you want to maintain the link to the source, select Options from
the Tools menu and go to the View tab and in the pull-down under Field
shading, select "Never".
