including figures in Word documents

Printing my old Word documents (classic Mac) some figures come out
distorted in the Mac OSX environment. New documents with new figures
drawn with Claris Draw are also mezzy (even if they look fine in the Word
document on the screen).
How can I open old documents and find them OK?
How do I import figures from Claris Draw?
