A few possibilities.

=RAND() [at least through XL2002, but not XL2003]

=NOW()

=TODAY()

=IF(ISNUMBER(X),ABS(X),0)

All that's left is filling in what X is, but you'd need to provide some
details before anyone could take this much further.

To produce only positive numbers use the absolute formul

=abs(A1

Or to produce only numbers greater than 0, (if its less than 0 is produces a 0) us

=if(A1>0,A1,0

Assuming A1 has the number you want the formula to work on
