No more hair to tear

My incoming mail server (POP3) is changed from what is should be to localhost
each time I restart the PC. My user name gets appended with / and what my
incoming mail server should be. These changes don't occur if I close and
restart outlook, only when I restart the computer.
I am running windows 2000 professional and outlook 2003
Would be grateful for some advice.

Hi,
have you installed a firewall or a virus protection program?

So the virus scanner or the firewall is the problem.
Please be sure that outlook has all permissions!
And if it dont work, deaktivate the firewall or the virus scan and look what
happen!

Thanks mate, you're a legend - it's the email scan that stuffed it up. Once
turned off it works beautifully. It's probably a case of belt and braces too,
as there's a real time scan function as well - which should be enough.
