I have Office v X for mac and until now I´ll never have
problems with the compatibility between powerpoint files,
however last week a friend give me a powerpoint
presentation file stored with powerpoint 2003 for windows,
he uses a password to protect the file of any kind of
modification, in windows systems we can see the
presentation without problem, but when we try to watch it
in powerpoin v. X we can´t have access, the software send a
msg tellin us that the format is unknown for it.

How can I do for solve my problem ?

Thanks in advance for your coments.

The same thing happens if you try to open a password protected file in Windows
versions of PowerPoint that don't support password protection (that is,
PowerPoint 2000 and earlier)

I don't know whether PowerPoint 2004 supports password protection. If so, it
might be able to open the file (assuming you know the password, of course).
Otherwise, the only thing to do is to ask for a copy of the file that's not
password protected.

The problem is that in PPT for mac it is impossible to
view it, however in PPT for windows at least I can open it
in read only mode so at least I can view it.

That's only true of PowerPoint 2002 and onwards. Earlier versions, even
Windows ones, simply can't open password-protected files.

The solution's the same in either case; the author will have to send a
non-protected version of the file or look into one of the other options at:
