Inconsistent context menu selections

I'm using MS Office X (NOT 2004), with the update on a Mactel iMac running
Tiger 10.7.

When I first open a worksheet and right click (or control-click) on a cell I
get the following items in my context menu:

Help
Cut
Copy
Past
Past Special
Insert
Delete
Clear Contents
Insert Comment
Calculator
Format Cells
Pick for List
Hyperlink

After inserting a comment or two this menu changes. At first I just get a
slightly different set of offerings:

Help
Spotlight
Copy
Past
Past Special
Insert
Delete
Clear Contents
Insert Comment
Calculator
Format Cells
Pick for List
Hyperlink

But then something even weirder happens -- when I right click I get the menu
above *with the items from "Spotlight" on down repeating 5 times*. This
usually comes up by the time I try to enter my 3rd comment.

What is going on here and how do I deal with it????

I'm not sure what is happening. I tried this with Excel 2004, and it seems
to work properly. I only get the spotlight menu when I click in a cell
containing data, and the spotlight menu appears last, not under Help as you
get with Excel X. When I right click in a cell with comments I get the
additional "Edit Comment, show comment, Delete comment" instead of insert
Comment. So, while I can't be sure, this looks like an issue that was fixed
with Exce3l 2004.

Yes it looks like it might be an issue between Office X and the Mactels. I
can't find any info on the Mactopia website about whether Office X is
supposed to run properly through Rosetta or not. It would be nice if they
would at least comment on this...

My suspicions about incompatibility stem also from problems running
Entourage from Office X on this system. I've had to switch to Apple Mail,
and now only open Entourage for USENET messaging.

Looks like I may have to bit the bullet and upgrade to 2004...
