Inconsistent screen painting

Pub Question

I have areas on my web page that do not paint correctly. Boxes of
inconsistent colour display. If you hit refresh or move to another page and
back again it sometimes corrects. It was suggested that it might be my
graphics card but I don't beleive that is the problem. My drivers are up to
date and it happens to other people's computers with new high end graphics
cards. It does not happen when viewed in Firefox (recognizing that maybe
people don't want
to discuss FireFox behaviour :))
The area that does not paint correctly seems somehow related to the inserted
textboxes or menu items as it is primarily to the right of my header text box
and below my menu boxes but to the left of a contact box and horizontal menu
item.
Any ideas welcome.

Pub primarily produces pages for IE only...in other browsers the results are
sometimes "interesting"

Pub Question

But in fact it behaves better in Firefox than IE. In IE the painting of the
background is inconsistent between pages and in some pages not good at all.
If I refresh sometimes it clears but not always.
Any ideas?

Are you using a master page for the background? If so, that is probably the
problem...master pages and web publications don't play well together.

strange the way pub uses a bg color and a bg image...a different image file
for each page even though they seem the same.

Pub Question

Well I took the hints and changed the background to one that didn't have a
gradient. That seems to have fixed it - I guess the lesson is not to get too
fancy. Thank you both

I noticed that too. That is why I wondered if the OP was using a master
page. I just checked the updated page and can't spot the bg image anymore?
Perhaps that was the image produced by asking for the gradient?

Publisher in general produces at least one, and sometimes several copies of
images on each page, regardless of whether that image is used again on
another page. That is one of the main reasons for the code bloat with Pub
2003.

Thanks for the feedback. Pub 2003 has problems with gradients with print
documents, so I am not surprised that it is an issue with a web document.
