Inconsistent table borders

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel I'm having problems with table borders in Word, particularly when printed to PDF. I can set all the borders in a table to be a particular weight, say 1/2 pt, but what I get in the generated PDF is mixed weights that look awful, sometimes giving the appearance of missing borders. Does anyone have any idea what is wrong?
