incorrect duration calculation....

I am using the Gantt view of Microsoft Project. I have entered correct start
and end dates for my task (I have not created subtasks yet). The duration
that Microsoft project is populating is horribly wrong!

For example I have a start date 16/10/06 of and an end date of 20/11/06 and
it is suggesting a duration of 106.13 days.

I can't see where these two decimal points are coming from and how I can
correct this. I have attempted to toy with the calendar/schedule and work
time settings. But no joy!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Em

Hi Emily,

You should not be entering dates into MS Project as this creates
constraints. The dates in Project are calculated based upon the start date
of the project, the project calendar, the definition of hours per day and
hours per week, and predecessor/successor relationships.

You may want to take some time and read through Mike Glen's excellent series
of articles on using MS Project at:

http://project.mvps.org/mike's_tutorials.htm

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Julie
