I use a Desktop PC and a tablet PC with a Canon MP780 Multifunctional device
to digitize many documents with MODI. Both my tablet PC and desktop machine
have always previously been able to do this without any problems. I normally
prefer to have my MP780 connected to my desktop machine . Recently though
whenever I try and scan in a documnt using MODI on my desktop I always get
the same error:
"The scan failed because of a scanner hardware error. Feeder may be jammed.
Please correct the error and scan again"
This error occurs even when I'm not using the sheet feeder on the scanner.
Intrestingly though the scanner works perfectly OK with all the other
programs I have tested it with on my desktop machine such as Paint.net, Corel
Photopaint 11, and Presto Pagemanager.
To rule out any problem with the scanner I have tried plugging the MP780
device into my tablet PC instead of my desktop in which the MODI scanning
function works perfectly normally with no errors. However I would still to
prefer to have it attached to my desktop machine which has always previously
functioned fine.
I have tried reinstalling office 2003, reinstalling the MP780 drivers,
disconnecting and reconnecting the scanner, and repairing any corrupted DLLs
in windows using the windows file protection program with my windows XP CD.
All with no success. I have also tried deleting and changing the scanning
presets with MODI and using the WIA device as well as the native MP780 also
without any success on my desktop PC.
Is there any known resolution to this problem other than a complete windows
XP reinstall which I assume would fix it?
