Incorrect Font Display & Fonts Missing

D

Deanne

After I re-installed the Microsoft office 2000 onto my
computer while doing a restore, the font listings in the
drop down box are messed up. It looks like a split screen
with the font name split in two - the back end name is
listed to the left and the front part is listed on the
right. How do I fix this?

In addition, I am missing fonts that I had in my system
before the re-install (ie: party font). How do I
retreieve the missing fonts?

Have you tried running Detect and Repair from the Help menu in any Office
Program?

Also, depending on the operating system you are using, you can use TweakUI
(microsoft windows powertoy) to restore your fonts. Look for it on
Microsoft Windows Home Page for your Operating System and then search on
Powertoys.

The font preview issue is only occurring in the Microsoft
Publisher program (not any other Office suite programs).
I ran the Detect and Repair from the Help menu and it did
not work.

I have Windows 98. I downloaded the TweakUI and could not
seem to find how to restore the fonts.

Any other suggestions?

Hmm, do you have a printer installed that perhaps had an extra CD with
fonts?

Thanks for your help on this. It's seems difficult to
resolve. I don't have CD with extra fonts from a printer -
not sure why you are asking me this.

Just to clarify, I do have fonts to work with. The
preview of the fonts in the drop down menu is screwed up
and is difficult to see the font names/types. They
display correctly for about the first half of the font
list then the display has that split screen look to it as
I decribed earlier. My computer with Microsoft Publisher
came from the manufacturer (Compaq) this way and somehow a
past aquaintance of mine fixed it. Now that I had to do a
quick restore, I am faced with this issue again.

Any other ideas?
