Increasig size of Page File

During normal work on the document CPU usage is round 2÷5%. After I switch on
"On the Fly" spell checking through Tools-Options-Spellchecking the CPU usage
jumps up to 50%.
At the same time a Page File that is normally round 300 MB starts rapidlly
increasing in size (about 8 megs per second). After the Page File reaches
round 1,8 GB size the system usually stops responding.
Min size of Page File is set to 1536 MB and max size to 3072 MB.
Anybody have any clue what could be the iisue here?

I'm running:
Intel P4 3,2GHz
1,0 GB RAM
160 GB HDD
WinXP SP2
MS WORD 2000 SP-3
