Increasing Planned Work

I'm using MS Project 2003...

I have two consecutive dates where my planned work exceeds my allowed
percentage of 80%. I want to increase the allowed percentage for the
previous two days and these two days to 100%. I open the resource
information screen and increase the percentage to 100% for those four days,
however, when I save my changes it updates every day on that task to 100%.
What am I missing or doing wrong?

Mac,
Look at the Task Usage view and check here your day by day assignment.
On the Gantt chart, Project displays (on the right side of the task bar)
only the maximum value of assignment rates if there are several.
