increment a journal nr in Wordtemplate

Is there a way to have a incrementing journal nr. in a word dotx ?

Ei. journal 001, journal 002, etc. when you open a new document

Any help gratefully received

Thank for a quick reply, I had hoped for a solution that did not include vba

You are not going to find one - you have to store the number count somehow
and that needs vba. Otherwise you could simply name the documents to
whatever you want. For an alternative approach - see
http://www.gmayor.com/save_numbered_versions.htm . but it still needs vba!
