Indent/outdent tasks

I am going back to finesse my project task appearances and trying indent and
outdent certain groups for organizational purposes. However, when I select
some tasks for indentation, either individually or several at once, it
randomly deletes tasks and outdents the incorrect items. Any ideas? Thanks
for your time!!!
