Indent settings

I am working with Project 2007 in Windows XP environment. We have 5 users.
One of the 5 users' indent settings seem to be off. When viewing a project,
the first level is fine, but the second indented level is indented so far we
have to expand the column off the screen to see it. And each level under
indents even further. All other users see everything the way it should be,
with a slight indent at each level.

Thanks in advance to anyone who know how to fix this!!!

I am assuming that the same project plan looks normal when other users are
looking at it?

If my assumption is correct then can you check whether this is an issue with
the Pro install on that particular machine or whether it is an issue with
the users profile on that machine?

Have another user log onto the user's machine in question and validate
whether the issue still exists. Alternatively, you can have the user in
question log onto another system and validate whether the issue still
exists.

If signs point to it being an issue on that machine, I would then try to
uninstall and reinstall the software.

Thanks Jonathan. You're assumption is correct...all other users/machines are
fine. I logged myself onto this user's computer and the same thing happened,
so it must be a machine issue.

This machine is brand new and this is the first time we have opened Project
on it. Would you still suggest reinstalling or could there be a setting on
the computer I need to change?

Thanks again, Tina

Hmm, that is strange seeing as this is a brand new machine.

Did you have the user log onto another system and verify the issue does not
exist for them there?

I am not sure what setting could be off, the only suggestion I have is to
try and re-install the software if it not too much of a hassle to see if
that resolves it.

when logging him into other machines, all is well. I will try to re-install.

Thanks for your help!

Nothing has worked so far. I have reinstalled and uninstalled/reinstalled
using a different CD. Microsoft email technical support is not working and
the current phone wait time is 2.5 hours. If anyone has any more
suggestions, I am willing to try anything at this point.

Thanks!

Happy New Year everyone. SP1 is already installed. I have also run all the
Microsoft updates for that computer. I called Microsoft on Friday only to be
asked to call back another day because they were too busy. With the holidays
and all new new equipment out there, I guess a lot of people were having
troubles. I will try them again this week and post if they find a solution.

Thank you Jonathan and Mike...I really appreciate all your advice!

Hello Tina,

I don't know if this is related to your problem or not, but there have
been several reports in the past of odd display issues (indent
indicators disappearing, lines dropping out) with Project. Some
appear to be related to having laptop computers connected to either
docking stations or to overhead projection systems.

It sounds as though you have narrowed the issue to the one computer --
not the users profile or the file. Is there something different about
that computer than others?

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

The only thing different is that it is new. It is running on the same
operating system and with all the same programs as every other computers. I
was reading all the questions about the indents and docking stations. Is
there anything that would equate to a docking station on a desktop?

Hi Tina,

To the best of my knowledge, nothing that equates to a desktop docking
station. I would suggest comparing the display settings and try to
see if there was a different display driver and monitor for the new
machine versus the older machines.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Thanks, That's one I haven't thought of. I will give it a try and let you
know.

Thanks again.
