Indent sides of a Table - problem

Mark

Hi

I'm using Word XP on a Windows XP Pro platform.

The report I have compiled has a 2 column - 5 row table inserted half way
through the document. At present, the sides of the table stretch out to the
left and right margins (i.e. full width). When I try and drag the sides of
the table inwards to reduce the overall width of the table, all the text in
the document moves with it. I've tried highlighting the table and then
dragging the sides but the same happens.

How do I reduce the width of the table but leave the rest of the document
untouched/unmoved?

Thanks in advance

Sorted

Table - Autofit - Autofit to contents

then with table highlighted

Table - table properties - centre
