Indenting within columns

Hello,

Pressing the tab key moves the cursor to the next column so it no longer
serves the indent function. Is it possible to indent (i.e., have an outline
structure) within a column?

Do you mean within a table cell? Yes, you can do this.

Create another line in the cell, then use the "Increase Indent Position" on
the Outlining Toolbar. Alt-Shift-Right is the corresponding KB shortcut.
