Index and search facility for files tool in 2.5

Hello all.
I asked this question on Google Groups and it may have found its way in
here, I'm not sure, so please excuse any double posting.
My company has been using Groove 2.5 for a few years on one particular
project and the spaces have grown like topsy over that period with staff
turnover etc. We have made an effort to consolidate the spaces into a more
usable format, splitting them up into logical groups so not everyone needs to
have a local copy of the Gigabytes of data. The files tool is by far and away
the most used tool.
To make this even more useful I would like to publish the contents in a
central 'index' space that everyone has access to. Something like a Windows
Explorer interface that allows searching of file names and/or file contents
within a space, or at the very least a method for listing file names within a
space.
Remember this is 2.5, and it is unlikely an upgrade will come soon.
Does anyone have any plug-ins or even suggestions that will help me open up
these files tools?

Thanks in advance,

Brett

Brett -

I think you are very unlikely to find a solution other than manual indexing
the files into a discussion or (shudder) Outline tool.

Thanks, Mark.
I did see one earlier post which was pointed to the SDK for 2.5, but it
looks like that d/l has been pulled. I'd much rather not have to write it
myself but will if I have to. Has nobody else had this need? Do later
versions offer this?

Hi Brett -

Yes, the SDK is gone. No, later versions don't offer an improvement out of
the box, though they are accessible via Groove Web Services (broadly
equivalent to a cut down version of the SDK, not really anything to do with
the web)

My company has product that make it easy to work with more recent versions
of Groove but we're not doing any testing on versions earlier than 3.1.
