I would like to maintain a single, large document, but add page numbers to
each section with a letter prefix. For example, the first section is general
information, and would be numbered pages GN-1 through GN-11. The next section
is Customer Maintenance, and would be CM-1 through CM-23, and so on. I know
how to break the document into sections and then restart numbering for each
section, and also how to manually type the letters, but the problem comes
when I try to add an index and TOC. Both of those tables display only the
numerical part of the page number the reference points to. I currently have a
single document with pages running from 1-233, and a properly dynamic TOC and
index. The reason I want to do this is so that if I add a page to the CM
section, I don't have to reprint all the subsequent pages to show the new
page numbers. i have tried using master/sub documents, but either I can't
figure it out or it's not the right solution. I'm using Word 2002 on Windows
2000 Professional. Thanks for any help!
