Index Entries messing up the keyboard

This may sound strange but....

Updated Windows (XP Pro) and Office (2003) this morning. Had to restart.
Now when I Word docs with Index entries in them my keyboard won't work in
the lines that have these entries. Example. Select text within a line that
has an index entry and the "Delete" key won't work. Try to select by using
SHIFT-Arrow Down, once it hits a line with an index entry it will open the
"File" menu and scroll around in it instead of selecting additional text.

Anyone heard of this "weird" problem?

Thanks. I'm pretty much stuck because I use the keyboard shortcuts all the
time and all my docs have index entries.

I still haven't figured it out, but I have used the "Save My Settings Wizard"
to restore my settings as of last week and that has fixed it. Still odd
though. There must have been something in either the Windows or the Office
update from this morning.

When the Delete key doesn't work and other keys start behaving badly, it's
often a sign that WordPerfect options have been enabled (I've seen them get
turned on spontaneously when doing an update). I see that you've resolved
the problem using the "Save my settings" wizard. But, if it happens again,
try Tools - Options - General, and ensure that both options that mention
WordPerfect are unchecked.
