index files folder

B

Betty Rose

I'm having problems uploading my index files folder to my control panel. Everything I've found online says to upload the whole index files folder intact, and not to upload individual files. Sounds easy enough, but how do you upload the whole folder intact?

Do you have to use an FTP client? If so, why does Publisher give the option of saving as http?

I'm a total newb, and this is my first website. I don't know how to use FTP to upload files, but if I have to, I'll figure it out.

Thanks for your help,

Betty

If you are using the control panel on your hosting service you may have to
create the "index_files" folder on the server, then upload the files from
your folder on your hard drive to the newly created folder on the server. I
find it much easier and faster to use an FTP client. The one most
recommended is free and available at: http://filezilla-project.org/
There are many users here on this forum that use it and can give you help.

What version of publisher are you using?
What hosting service are you using?
What is your URL?

It is not advisable to save as http. It is better to use "Publish to the
web" and direct it to your hard drive from where you can FTP to the server.

Publish via http is only if your server has FrontPage Server Extensions
installed...otherwise it won't work.
