Index Formatting

I've got an index in a Word 2003 document that displays about 20 items
from the document, but some of the index entries are from headings and
those items in the index appear in bold; the non-bold items are not
bold in the index. Oddly, the items that are bold in the index have
page numbers in the index that are non-bold even though the style
appears to be identical for the item and the page number.

Besides changing the index formats to make everything bold (my current
"solution") is there a way I can force non-bold in the index?
