Using Word XP on Windows NT
I only noticed today that if I change my index to appear
on 2 columns instead of 1, the index headings are
dissapearing. Below are the steps that I followed (I'm
using a document that has th index set to appear on 1
column):
1. With the selection somewhere in the index field, select
Insert>Reference>Index and Tables.
2. In the Index and Tables dialog box, the Index tab, only
modify Columns to 2. Leave other settings as they are
(Right align page numbers blank, Formats: From template).
3. Click OK and the index headings have dissapeared. I
only have a long list of entries with no separation
letters.
Is it supposed to work this way?
I also tried the Classic options for Formats, but this
uses the index styles in Times New Roman (from
Normal.dot?); I want to be able to use the styles from the
template attached to the doc, which has different fonts
and formatting.
Also as a note (don't know if it matters or not), but I
want to do all these changes through a macro on a
document. This document is "as is", I don't have too much
control on it, the index is already in there, so that I do
not know how it was inserted, I can only modify it.
Thanks for any help,
