You solved my first question so quickly, I'm hoping you might be able to
solve my next one. I'm following the instructions on how to make a subentry
and am having problems.

How do I actually create a subentry?
How do I get the subentry page number to appear on the index?

I've played with it and when I enter my subentry info (ex. creating:deleting
under main entry WIPbins) I lose the page number for the main entry and only
get the page number for the last sub entry. What am I doing wrong? The
website is great for step-by-step instructions, but pictures would help too.

Thanks so much!!!

you're doing nothing wrong: that's exactly how a sub-entry is supposed
to work (or, at least, that's exactly how it works in Word, I've never
had to create indexes elsewhere).

The original help text for XE and INDEX in Word prior to Word 2007 had
an example with Planets, and the index looked something like:

Planets
Mercury 1, 3
Venus 17
Earth 19, 20, 21

So, imagine the reader: when you go to the trouble of creating
sub-entries for him, he is not interested generally about all the
mentions of planets if you serve him better information. :)

[And even if he is, he can still go to all these pages that way.]

The website is great for step-by-step instructions, but pictures would help too.

Make sure when posting here to mention your version of Word, and
certainly the web page you're referring to!
