Index update Changes Page Number -- Word 2007

Word 2007 and previous version 2003/2000 have this problem.

When the index is updated, and multiple sections exist, such as a first
section numbered i, ii, iii, . . . and a main content section numbered 1, 2,
3, . . . . an index update continues the numbering from section one to the
next section.

I have read the work around for this in 200/2003 was to use the F9 key to
update instead of using the "update index" in the index menu. In 2007 F9
key is not a work around.

Anyone else have this problem and any suggestions?

Deleting the \c switch from the INDEX field code might improve the situation
(since it adds section breaks to the document).
