Indexing - 2 column wrap text problem

Hi
I have word 2003 document containing 6 seperate indexes. They are all
working but I am having two problmes, one is where the page number runs into
the next column area or out of the column area and the other when the text
over runs the space allowed in the column and runs into the page number. By
example I am getting this

Smith, Betty Smart, Tina
Orthopaedic Nurse.................Paediatric Nurse................26
Smook, Arthur Snub, Tony
Paediatric Dr..............33 Paediatric Nurse................45
Trots, Snow Muthukumaraswamy, Sabaratna-Akhakid
Honoary Director of CT45 Clinical Director ................22

Any idea how to force a wrap of the text and why sometimes the page number
is disappearing.
I can fix them manaually but with 40 pages of indexes I would prefer not to
have to do this.

The paragraph style for the index entry should have a right tab (where
the page numbers will line up) _outside of_ (to the right of) the
right margin. You probably should put the right tab flush with the
column edge and the right margin indented as much as 0.5" (in case you
have 3-digit page numbers; less indent if you only have 2-digit page
numbers). If it's in the style, it'll work every time you update the
indexes.

This suggests that the relevant index style has a tab stop left over from
initial generation of an index with fewer columns. You'll need to modify the
index style to set the right-aligned tab stop to the correct location (right
margin of the column).

Since the index styles are set to update automatically (by default), it
should suffice to drag the tab stop on the ruler in any given entry. This
can be done in Normal view if the ruler doesn't show the tab stops correctly
in Print Layout view.

Thanks for the suggestions - Ive checked the styles and theres right tabs set
up at the edge of each column so Im still not sure why the names or leader
line is over shooting in some cases.
