I want to create an serial number to use for invoicing.
I have used the ID field to do this making it the primary key and the type
autonumber.
The problem is the ID field needs to be set to start at a given number
rather than 0 as some customers require their invoices to start from say 1000
I have forgotton how to do this!
Any help appreciated
Thanks in advance
Glynn

This is a FAQ so you should have no problem finding references that
explain that using an Autonumber for a meaningful value is a really
bad idea. Check with groups.google.com.
Rather you should use the "DMax + 1" technique which you will find as
well.

Seriously Glynn,

You just gotta man up and guess. You'll figure it out. Sure, you're first
guess might not result in the most favorable outcome, but you must remember,
that genuine growth is bred from trial and error. I'd personally just type
of few lines of familiar codes in, click enter and see what happens. Another
way I've climbed myself up the corporate ladder, is looking at other
people's screens. I call it social-browsing, because it seems like youre
enjoying a delicious coffee, taking a quick stroll around the office
preparing for another round of hard-work and compliance, when in fact, you
casually make small talk with the 'smart guys/girls' and take a look at the
answers they got. Collaboration is the key to corporate success, and I wish
you nothing less than the utmost success.

Let me know how much this helped you.
