Indexing Technique

I have a moderately long document with numerous indexable entries.

1) Using the regular 'XE" indexing inserts appreciable text that lengthens
the document so that the final index page notations are erroneous. How does
one overcome this?

2) The entire text is in normal Times font but the entries to be indexed are
all in caps and bold Times font . Is there a way of auto-indexing these
entries (not marking all of them by manual method?)

Thanks for any assistance!

For (1), the XE fields are formatted as Hidden text. You have to hide
nonprinting characters (which include Hidden text) before generating your
index.

No, but you can certainly use Find to easily locate such entries. It will be
much easier if you have applied the All Caps font property rather than typed
with Caps Lock on. After you've found the first one, you can use the browse
arrows at the bottom of the vertical scroll bar to Find Next or Find
Previous.
