individual occurences od recurring items

I have a question about custom properties in individual occurences of
recurring calendar items - does anybody know why - when I set custom
properties in an individual occurence of a recurring items save and close the
item then open it again my custom properties are gone?

My guess is that the individual instance is interpretted and only exists for
the duration the item is opened, when closed some of these properties can be
stored in the recurrence blob in the master item but not custom properties.
Is my guess correct?

Individual occurrences don't really exist, they're calculated from the
master appointment's recurrence pattern. If you want to add user properties
they'd have to be added to the master appointment.
