Individual resources and consolidated

I'm using Project 2000 with XP operating system. I want
to have one project that has 5 summary tasks that are
priority 1 - 5 and then have individuals assigned to the
subtasks as resources. But, in the same project I want to
have summary tasks 6 - 60 that have a mix of priorities
that can change month to month and have consolidated
resources assigned to the. Example, Summary tasks 1 - 5
will have John, Joe, Jim assigned individually to work
those tasks and then in summary tasks 6 - 60 I will have
18 engineers available for the work, but John, Joe, and
Jim may be part of those 18. I'm trying to find out who
is overallocated or underallocated plus determine if I
get some extra resources how much sooner will a task be
completed. Is it possible to mix individual and
consolidated resources in this way? thanks so much for
any suggestions.

Hi Shari,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

No, you can either have 18 engineers from which to assign or you can have
named individuals. Project cannot distinguish between Joe or Fred from
within the pool of 18. I assume you're aware that the priorities are only
there for Project to determine which task to delay when levelling using the
Priority,Standard setting?

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: <http://www.mvps.org/project/>

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :))
