Hi there,
My son is 14 and uses powerpoint at his secondary
school. He is taking ICT in his upper school starting in
September and will be using powerpoint a lot. I would
like to get him the program for use at home but obviously
the price is a bit hefty - £199.

I cannot understand the difference between the normal
Office XP package and the standard one which is a lot
cheaper. It says on the box only for students and
teachers - does my son qualify as a student user? I have
had a look at the help page but I am still unsure.

Any help from anybody on this would be great.
Thanks

Office XP comes several editions that differ in the set of applications
included.
Office XP Standard for Students and Teachers contains the same set of Office
XP Standard. Both contain PowerPoint. In US, your son would qualify for
Office XP Standard for Students and Teachers {grades K through 12 US}.

Suggest you look here:

for information on the various editions of Office XP in UK.
