Info Path form data

Not to sound stupid, I am having trouble finding out info on how Info Path
data is collected and stored and how to retrieve it. Could someone explain
this or direct me where to go to understand this. Thanks.

InfoPath forms are stored as XML files. You can store them virtually anywhere
(file system, network share, database, or SharePoint), since XML is text.
Retrieval depends on where you stored them. To get more information on
