I am wondering how you link an excel file with an Infopath form so that when
i type a number into a particular cell in my excel document it will
automatically show up in a certain number box in my Infopath document. If
you understand my question and this is possible i would appreciate some help

Maybe. It depends on how you do this. Excel does have a number of ActiveX
controls (which I'm not too familiar with). If of the spreadsheet controls
supports XML you may be able to bind it to the same field as another control
so that the data shows up in the secondary control.

Take a look at the ActiveX controls listed in the Add or Remove Custom
Controls dialog. You should see a number of Excel controls that you can try
out.
