InfoPath 2003, 2007 and MOSS

I'm creating InfoPath 2007 forms that are designed for the InfoPath client
with backward compatibility with InfoPath 2003. I then publish this form to
a form library in MOSS. I set this form library to open in the client
application NOT as a web page. InfoPath 2003 users who click the "New"
button get the web page and not the client application even though I have
designed the form appropriately and set the properties of the form library
correctly.

Is this normal behaviour? Is there a way to get the form to open in InfoPath
2003 and not as a web page excluding publishing the form as an InfoPath 2003
template?

Thanks
Brad

Obviously you must have browser compatibility on.

Just a guess but what happens if you turn this off? Then MOSS won't try to
give them an IFS web version it should only give the xsn or xml.

In InfoPath I have brower compatibility on. When I turn it off and the user
attempts to open the form from MOSS, it attempts to open the form as a web
form and then gives an error that the form has not been designed to be
browser compatible.

I guess this is how it works (by design)

Hey Brad.

I would think it is something in SharePoint. Which should detect the user's
client properly. Have you tried with multiple client computer's? It could be
a problem with a specific install of InfoPath 2003. Do they have the latest
service packs?

I've tried with multiple computers and have been able to repro it on my test
box. I'm going to install the latest service packs to see if that does
anything. Do you know of anywhere in SharePoint to configure this?

Thanks

I tried InfoPath 2003 SP3 but it still opens as a web page. I have to guess
it has something to do with MOSS detecting the client but I don't know of
any way to change that setting.
